Deciding between abortion, parenting, or adoption…

Justine* came to us feeling very upset. She shared that her boyfriend, Martin*, told her he wanted to have a baby with her. They tried for a few months and when she found out she was pregnant, he started to pressure her to have an abortion. He told her that he changed his mind and that he wasn’t ready to become a father.

Justine did not want to have an abortion. She had made that choice two years ago and did not want to do that again. Struggling with that decision, she stated that she felt she would commit suicide if she had another abortion. She also felt that she wasn’t prepared to be a single parent and so was interested in learning about adoption.

We were able to provide her with an ultrasound so that she could see her baby. We gave her education and resources on Post Abortion Healing, Adoption, and Single Parenting. Justine was feeling like adoption would be a good option. She felt equipped to sit down and talk with Martin about why she couldn’t have an abortion and to be able to explain why she was interested in choosing adoption.

Martin was not happy with her decision to not have an abortion and he is not supportive of her choosing adoption. Justine has a few months to decide what is best for her and her baby. We are providing encouragement and support through her participation of our Earn While You Learn program. Our Education Coordinator reports that she is doing great with the lessons and is an active participant in the program!

Justine stated that “Everything was fantastic!” at her first visit to Paulding Pregnancy Services. She has asked for prayer for “help to make the right decision.”

Client Impact: Married Couple Unsure What to Do

Jennie and her husband, Tom*, came to Paulding Pregnancy Services looking to get information about abortion. Jennie shared that she had an abortion 2 years earlier. Our client advocate allowed Jennie to share her experience in a safe, non-judgmental room. She shared that after taking the first pill, she didn’t want to take the second set of pills. She parked her car in the Walmart parking lot and sobbed to Tom, who was her boyfriend at the time. He told her they could not financially take care of a baby at the moment. He convinced her to take the second set of pills.

She admitted that she did not want to have an abortion this time either, but was scared on how they would provide for a child. During her visit, Jennie and Tom were able to obtain information about abortion procedures, what happens to the baby, and the risks involved. They got to see our Earn While You Learn boutique and saw how Paulding Pregnancy Services could help them with education on prenatal and parenting topics and obtaining items for their baby.

Jennie shared that she had tried to find the abortion clinic she had gone to before and wasn’t able to find it on the internet. She then tried calling another abortion facility and they didn’t answer, not once, but twice. Finally, she called us. We told her that the Lord was trying to show her that she didn’t have to have an abortion and to trust in Him.

Jennie and Tom decided to trust in God and have decided to not abort their baby! We are excited for them and thankful to the Lord!

Our Miles for Moms 5K is a fundraiser to help support our Earn While You Learn program and our New Dad Boot Camp. We do these programs at no cost to our clients. Your financial support helps make these programs possible. We would love to see you at the 5K! If you would rather just donate, you can do that and still get the T-shirt!

Client Impact: Leaving an Abusive Situation at 37 weeks pregnant

Shelia* is a young woman who came to us after leaving an abusive situation with her husband. She was visibly pregnant with her first child and shared that she had not had any prenatal care. Living in a hotel with her husband the last few months, he would not allow her to leave, was abusing her, and was threatening her life. She was able to get away and called her mom for help. Her mother found us online and brought her to Paulding Pregnancy Services.

We were able to provide Shelia with resources for local organizations and shelters for women who are in a domestic violence situation. A nurse spoke with her and informed her what labor looks like, answered her medical questions, and assured her that she could go to the hospital and would get care. She was also given a list of local OBGYNs and Medicaid information. We provided her with maternity clothes, diapers, other baby items, and a crib. She also signed up and has been participating in our Earn While You Learn program.

Shelia and her mom were so appreciative of the help that we offered that they came to Paulding Pregnancy Services with donuts to share with our volunteers and staff! They told us, “Everything was great!”

Shelia recently had her baby girl and is safe. She is a believer and asked for prayers. Please pray for her as she navigates being a new mom, healing from abuse, safety from her husband, and the courage to start a new life.

Client Impact: She Had An Abortion Because A Widely Known Organization Told Her She Shouldn’t Be A Teen Mom

Tori* came to Paulding Pregnancy Services feeling very nervous. She shared that when she was 15, she found out she was pregnant. She and her boyfriend went to a prominent organization that claims to help women with unplanned pregnancies because that’s where she thought she could go for help. They encouraged her to have an abortion, telling her things like, “Your parents will be upset” and “You’re too young to have a baby right now.”

She stated that she feared telling her parents and went through the abortion without them knowing. Since then, she has suffered from substance abuse and other emotional problems. She said that she is struggling to forgive herself.

Tori is now 17 and is pregnant again. She told our Client Advocate that she didn’t want to have another abortion. Not knowing where to go for help, she knew that she didn’t want to go back to that prominent organization that claims to help women with unplanned pregnancies and possibly be pressured to abort again. She did a search on her phone and found us on the internet. After waiting a few weeks, she decided to come in.

We were able to give her the HOPE that she needed. At her appointment, many services were provided to her:

– We got her signed up for our Earn While You Learn program. She will be able to get prenatal and parenting classes and earn items for her baby.

– Allowed her to speak with our Post Abortion Facilitator and she was given information about Post Abortion Recovery classes.

– Supplied her with community resources to help build her support network (MOPS, Church homes, Single Moms information, etc)

– Gave her the opportunity to speak with our nurse about her drug use and answer any medical questions that she might have. She was given medical referrals that would benefit her.

-Most importantly, she was able to hear the Good News that Jesus forgives us for our sins and that He can help guide her in life.

Tori told her parents about being pregnant and they were happy to support her. Please pray for Tori and her baby. Pray that she would understand how deep Jesus loves her and that she will find the courage to attend Post Abortion Recovery.

As she was leaving, she said, “You guys are perfect.”

It’s because of you that we can be the perfect hope for girls like Tori! Thank you!

Read This Now: Fear, urgency, and ignoring opposing viewpoints; A look into pro-choice legal minds on Dobbs, SB 8, more

I recently read an article written by someone who is against abortion. She attended a webinar put on by the National Abortion Federation (NAF)

“I like to listen to the pro-choice side to better understand where the leaders of the movement are trying to take the movement, what they believe, what their goals are, and what their motivations are. That means occasionally I attend a pro-choice webinar or rally, listen in, and digest what I’ve heard.”

The webinar was discussing the book Controlling Women: What We Must Do Now To Save Reproductive Freedom and also the recent Dobb v. Jackson SCOTUS case was talked about. The author does a great job discussing what the pro-abortion side is thinking about expanding abortion access and the case in the Supreme Court and gives rebuttal to their thoughts and comments.

“…the fight for fundamental human rights does not belong to just one political party or one stereotype of an American. And pro-life people — just like pro-choice people — are not a monolith. There are pro-life people who are not religious, who are a part of the LGBQ+ community, who are Democrats, who are liberal, who are progressive, who are feminists, who are young, who are not white…the list goes on. Both the pro-life and pro-choice movements do their cause a great disservice when they put “their” side or the “other” side in a box.”

It’s important to know what the pro-abortion side is trying to push with their supporters and lawmakers. Read the full article HERE

Senior Legacy Project

Courtney Carmichael held her baby shower for our moms. People donated to her cause and ordered items off the baby registration that she created. Everyone came together and helped put these items in a bag. At the end of the baby shower, these bags were prayed over. We hope to give these bags out at our next Diaper Distribution Day in 2022. Great job Courtney!

The number of abortions performed in Georgia increased by more than 2,100 — or more than 7% — in 2019, according to new numbers from the state Department of Public Health.

After falling over the past decade, 2019 marked the second consecutive year the rate of reported abortions performed increased in Georgia.

That is 2,122 more abortions than were reported in 2018, when 28,544 abortions were performed
